Born In Preston
« on: Sunday 15 April 07 22:49 BST (UK) »
Hi
Im trying to find the birth of William Henry Raven my grt grt grandfather. I know that he died in 1902
The 1901 and 1891 census confirms that he was born in Preston in 1857. I have checked the BMD from 1855-1859 and cannot find an entry. He does not seem to appear on any other census either.
any advice or help would be greatly appreciated

1891 has - him as a Pensioner - Royal Engineers- perhaps that's why he's not around in other censuses.
Just a thought that there were barracks at Fulwood Preston so if he was in an army family, he may have been born there but it wasn't the home for other family members.
will keep looking

the ref is RG12/1381 Essex, Brentwood district 1
it says Brentor. But i think this has been mis read as 1901 census says Preston. When i look at the spelling it does look like Preston
hope this info helps

Sounds Complicated? :-\

I checked the BVRI 2nd edition, and there was No 'Henry RAVEN' listed as 'Bn in Lancashire'! (does'nt mean He was'nt though, just that He Isn't on the IGI Records).

I will try finding Him on ancestry (Again!) ::)

P.S.

have You thought of looking for Regimental Records?

Hi there,
Have you checked the actual GRO index images?...or just the FreeBMD?

I'll have a look at the images for a little bit while I'm waiting for the roast!
