Today's Guardian Newspaper Supplement - "Family History"
« Reply #1 on: Saturday 14 April 07 10:10 BST (UK) »
Hi, Everyone,
Opened my Guardian newspaper this morning to discover a 92-page supplement calling itself: "Family History".  A quick flip through tells me that's it not a bad little booklet, though I suppose you've got to like what you read in this paper, and to want to pay the £1-40p inflated price that all English newspapers seem to charge on a Saturday as well as a Sunday now.  Hope this doesn't sound like advertising, just thought I'd flag it up here...

...and tomorrow its sister paper, "The Observer" is carrying a 32-page guide  "to the UK's top 500 surnames".
I wonder what criteria they're going to use for that...?

There is a very interesting Family History booklet in the Guardian today.  Rootschat is listed as the 23rd best website.

I thought the Guardian supplement was a good bash - good idea to get one of their staff to have a go at researching their family history in 21 days.  Rootschat is featured as one of 7 recommended websites for getting in contact with other researchers.

I thought it looked better than some of the booklets you get occasionally free with the Family History magazines.  But I haven't read it all yet  ::)
