Unlikely that I'll make it over from Canada for May 8th, though York is a place I should spend several genealogically-researching weeks in!  But I DO want to see if (a) Ticker is anything like his caricature (seems altogether too suave too be true), and (b) Paul E is anything like his photo.

This has nothing to do w/the meet so move this if you want.  I recently read that England is only about the size of the state of Vermont in New England.  Is this true?  I don"t think Scotland was included in the size.   Leagen

For the record, the size of England (excluding Scotland and Wales) is about 50,300 square miles. Vermont is 9,609 square miles!  ;)

Hi Sara,

There are about 9 rooms I think, some double.
and there is a function room, 10 mins walk from the city.

I have never been before, but the web site looks good.

The pub is connected with the Crimean War.

I am going to stay for a few days to enjoy York and do a bit of research. ;D
