David Fish - when did he die?

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me find when my great-grandfather David Fish died. He was born in Hoghton, Lancashire in 1835, and I have a photo of him with my grandmother when she was in her teens. (She was born in 1913.) I've search unsuccessfully for his death in the St Catherine's house index for the 1920's and 1930's, and was hoping someone else may have more luck in finding his death than me. I think he moved to Colchester in the early 1900's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! ???

How about this one:

Oct/Nov/Dec 1923
David Fish, age 89, Norwich area 4b 186

Not quite Colchester, I know, and it means the in the photo your gran would only have been 10, not in teens.

I think that Norwich one must be him.

I have now looked through every quarter 1923-1935, by which time 'your' David Fish would be 100!
Apart from 3 who died in their 60's, one who died aged 80 in 1932 (when yours would be 98) and a baby, then the Norwich one is the only one! Age fits.

It sounds like it could possibly be him. I'll have a look in the wills index and see if he left a will, which could help confirm if it's my David Fish.

I've just read your prehistoric post from 2007 and if you are still in need of this information then according to my notes he died in 1916. This is for a David FISH (b1835 in Hoghton) who married three times (to MALONE/LATHAM/LUND in turn).

I have done extensive researches into the many FISH families with Darwen connexions in an attempt to "sort them out" and would be able to send you the tree that I have constructed for this particular Fish "species" if this would be helpful. This tree begins with James FISH (c1779) for certain - but tentatively a generation earlier with a Joseph FISH who married Ann RILEY in 1780.
