Plummer Australia and elsewhere

Hi,

I am seeking any descendents of William Plummer and Mary Arthur who arrived in Sydney aboard the Walter Morrice on Feb 2nd 1849.

They had William Henry (died May 1849) Thomas (died 1918 - Albury NSW) Isaac (death unknown) on board with them. My great grandfather, George was born around 1850-1853 in the Southern Highlands/Goulburn area of NSW.

Around 1875 George was a photographer, living on Beattie St, Balmain NSW.

He had 15 children between 1875 and 1895 with Mary Hedge. The children were born in Sydney, Orange, and Dubbo.

The family lived on the property Windeena at Balladoran.

Any rellies/descendents out there?

Hi there Plums,
I have Plummer connections.
I cannot immediately relate yours to mine, but it is not a very common name in Aust.
Mine entered Aust. at Adelaide SA, and Joseph Plummer married Agnes Hendry there.
They were caught by the gold fever and went to central Vic where lots of their childern were born and died.
When all that frantic time came to an end, they settled in Melbourne where the sons made cordial in a factory in South Melbourne for some years.
No artistic photographers in that lot and not much NSW connection.

His son:

Geoffrey Bruce PLUMMER
B: 1925

I certainly will. There seems to be a lot of Plummers in Tasmania. So far I don't think we are connected to them, but you never know.

My grandfather was one of 15 (of which 13 survived to adulthood) so the descendents and relatives have to be out there somewhere

I added a lot to my Plummer knowledge through reading those digitised and even those with just index details.
I can see 3 at least of George's boys signed up for ww1.

I see that Geoffrey Bruce was actually born in Sydney, NSW according to his enlisment particulars.
You can request details of the file for a small charge and they will digitise it for you online.
