John Barnett
« on: Thursday 05 April 07 20:52 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

would anyone out there have an interest in John Barnett or any of his family?

He was born 1797 in Falmouth Cornwall but was next heard of in Milford, Pembrokeshire. He married Mary? in Milford (Hubberston) and eventually moved away to Merseyside. His occupation was master mariner and custom's officer.

I don't know if he moved to Wales alone or if he moved with parents + siblings.
I would be pleased to hear from anyone who can help.

Thank you for looking,

Harpist.

I believe he was in Cheshire in 1841, in the township of Tranmere in the civil parish of Bebbington.

John Barnett, 44, Mariner, not born in county
Mary 44, not
Thomas 22, painter, not
John, 14, not
William 12 yes (still with them in 1851)
Mary 6, yes

They must have left Wales before 1829

From IGI: Thomas Hyland Barnett christened 17 Nov 1818 Hubberston, Pembs.
Other children (not mentioned above):
Samuel John, 1822
Matilda Maria Hyland 1823
Samuel 1825
John 1827
All Hubberston

Again, from IGI, William is William Hyland Barnett.

I'd put money on John married Mary Hyland.

I have the details of John Barnett's family descending, but would love to know when he arrived in Wales from Cornwall. If I knew that it might help me trace his baptism and his parents.
I also have Mary Hyland's parentage and marriage now and have gone as far as seems currently possible with that family.

John Barnett married Mary Hyland in 1818 at Hubberston.

the records aren't on the site, but it does tell you what info can be found and how. You need to visit the National Archives in Kew or get someone to do the research for you.
