Thanks everyone - I do appreciate the help and suggestions. I've found out more in the past day than in a month on my own. I've downloaded the medal card as suggested. I hope it means something to you..

Thanks everyone. Yes he was a perkins and I see I've missed out his name from the original post.    :-\

His name was Albert Henry Perkins and he was born, I believe, in 1887 in Putney (or thereabouts). I'm not sure how you knew that but I'm all ears...!
