Hi,

Why not search for their marriage in the indexes? These are available at the Dublin GRO and on film at your local family history centre.

I think it may be Balbriggan?

No it definately is Ballybricken.

I would be interested if you have found any details. As there may be a chance that our Cullen's are related. My grandmother was Johanna Cullen, her parents may of been Thomas Cullen and Statia Power, my mother memory is very sketchy on this. All of my grandmothers family, lived around Ballybricken/Yellow Road area of Waterford.

hi,

I haven't had much luck as yet, but I have got a lead on another part of the family [James hayes and Mary Sheehan] and a possible connection with William patrick Cullen who was a baker and married a girl from Jersey, and yes, is is definatly Ballybricken.

Hiya

I have been speaking to my mum, and apparently there was a lot of my grans family living around Ballybricken.

My grans grandparents were Richard Cullen and Catherine Cullen (nee Power) and my grans father was Thomas Cullen, not sure on her mother, as apparently her mother died when she was only three. There were lots of brothers, sisters, uncles and aunts etc who all lived around the Ballybricken, Yellow road area. I think Thomas Cullen occupation had something to do with Coal and the docks down on the Quay. Also some of the Cullens ended up running a fish a chip shop near Ballybricken.

I would pretty much assume that your Cullens are related to mine somehow.

Siobhan

Those name do not mean much to me at present, but when 'my' family moved to the Cork Road, waterford, the Powers lived next door to them. Father-in-law's name was Terrance [Terry] b 1910 to William and Mary Cullen [nee Coughlan]. Terry married Anne Mary Hayes in 1935 at which time he was living at Butcher's lane, Waterford.
Does any of this info sound familiar to you or your mother? - it would be great if it does. I know I have lots more hard work to do on this family.

There are a number of names that seem very familiar. Did you know Denis Cullen in Ballybricken Waterford area?

Please take a look at this document - I think you'll a fair amount of interesting information.

Waterford City Library, Lady Lane , Waterford City has a newspaper index from 1884 to 1948 that has birth, marriage and death notices, you might get some information on the Cullen family there.
