Hi,
Assuming the family came from England?
Searching for a marriage of Eleanor Walton on Freebmd to Thomas not great success.
However this one is a bit interesting and may be a possibility
In the September quarter of 1870,
THOMAS VALLUM URAN
appears on the same page as
ELEANOR WALTON
St George Hanover Sq.  1a. 612

[ as you know, there is no definite way to tie the seperate partners together without further inquiries]
It is possible that they decided to tie the knot just before embarking for a new life?

On IGI there is a birth for Eleanor Walton in 1828, Isleworth , London.
The parents are Richard Walton and Isabella.

Where did the birth-date for Eleanor you have listed come from?

Not sure if it helps - but this MAY be the family in 1861 -  transcribed as Uran (Thomas E). It does look that it could be Uran or Wran & E or V  ???  ???

Yorkshire south Dalton  RG9/3572 20/5
Thomas ? Wran head mar 31 stone carver ? Chichester Sussex
Elleanor do wife mar 30 Isleworth Mdx
Henry do son 9 scholar Kensington Mdx
Eleanor Walton niece 11 Brentford Do (deaf & dumb from birth)

Seems to link to the marriage and birth found by Sue - with Eleanor Jnr being a niece

Hi Trish & Sue, just got back from helping my husband who is renovating a worker's cottage.  Gave me the worst job, de-nailing all the tongue & groove boards  >:(  , who wants to be a renovator , back is aching, finger nails cracked, anyway enough of my woes :)

Sorry ladies I know very little of the family background.  Like you I couldnt find anything on Free BMD or Family Search. I was told their names by the lady I am assisting. I also found their details on Queensland Archives site for assisted immigrant passenger 1848 and May 1884. The family came from London on the "Royal Dane" arriving Rockhampton 19/11/1870 and then onto Brisbane.

Eleanor aged 40
Eleanor aged 20
Harry aged 19
Thomas V* aged 38
Vallance.

Sue you could be right, perhaps they had to tie the knot, before being accepted as assisted immigrants by the Queensland Government. Their vessel departed Gravesend London on 30th July, 1870.

Your 1861 census Trish is interesting, the ages all fit in.

Bye for now
Helen

That's interesting.
The indexes for immigration [online] do not actualy give the relationship of people to each other so Eleanor [deaf & dumb since birth] could well be a neice, as Trish found, not daughter.
The fact that her death entry lists those 2 as her parents is not necessarily the truth.
Also, there was a lot of 'free & easy' with ages in those records and I would venture to say that the birth I found for Eleanor [senior] is close to the mark.

The entry on Qld. Archives  [online]only list V as Thomas midd. name.
Have you seen something else that
a)..gives it as Vallance?
b)..says they were a married couple.?

Sue
