I've checked the transcript and there's a John Childerly chr 20 Dec 1789 son of Squire and Mary. It is actually on the IGI, but as Childely, which, as we have all found out, the soundex misses when a search is made against Childerley.
I missed the entry altogether when I checked the transcript fiche earlier this morning (don't ask!), and had posted the message below, and rather than deleting it quickly to hide my embarrassment, I'll leave it on the board as it may contain some information which might be useful.
"The only John was christened on 18 Jan 1794, son of Edward & Mary, who also christened a number of other children between 1788 and 1796 so it doesn't seem as though it was a late christening of a 6 year old. In any event what appears to be this John is in Eltisley in 1851 as a 58 year old. Edward & Mary married on 29 Jan 1788, so I would rule them out as possible parents of your John - most unlikely that they would have named a second son John if the first was still living.
Then there was Warren & Mary having children 1793-1811. They married in 1792 so I think they can be ruled out too
And then there's James and Mary with just the one baptised in 1785 (later - the PR shows this child, Thomas, as being son of Squire and Mary, which makes a lot more sense as I couldn't find a baptism of James). A Mary Childerley was buried on 26 April 1787 - the PR gives no other detail as to who she was. Doesn't help when it seems to have been a family tradition that all sons had to marry a Mary!
Then as Patrish says, Squire and Mary were also having children at this time, christening three in quick succession between 1793-6. They married in 1782 but only baptised three children before 1793, Thomas on 1 Dec 1782 (parent shown mysteriously on IGI as Agnis) who was buried on 22 Dec 1782; another Thomas on 5? Sept 1785 (later - as above - on IGI as parents James and Mary), and Sarah on 9 Dec 1790 (later - she's on the IGI as Childely as well). There's plenty of space for John in 1788 (later - at least I got that bit right!). I wonder if they might they have been some variety of non-conformist, at least for a while, so didn't baptise their children? (later - wrong, they weren't!) I have a non-conformist Medlock family in Eltisley who have caused me no end of grief.
Squire, Warren and Edward were all sons of Thomas and Elizabeth, so it's a fair assumption that this couple were the grandparents of your John.
One of the witnesses at John's 1813 marriage was Joseph Childerley who was a son of Squire and Mary.
I suspect John was the son of Squire and Mary, but I can't prove it!
Try checking with Cambridge Records Office to see if Squire left a will in which he might have named his children - he was buried on 5 Dec 1796 - "Squire Childerley, a carpenter drowned in a well by attempting to get a pail out"

I think I got to the right answer but didn't half go round the houses to get there! Moral of story - rub sleep out of eyes before going through fiche with a damaged 20x magnifying glass!
On a slightly more serious note I'm a great believer in extracted IGI entries, which up until now I've found to be very reliable. But two apparent errors (Agnes and James instead of Squire) have shaken my faith a bit.
