John Herring 1861 Nether Moor
« on: Monday 29 November 04 01:03 GMT (UK) »
Can someone help me find where JOHN HERRING was born by finding him on the 1861 census please.

He was not at home on the 1851 census but his wife ANN was. She was at Nether Moor in the parish of Brampton, then aged 50.
Thank You

Hi Keith
I can't see John in 1851 either but if I have the right entry then his son Richard (14) is living with his uncle William Herring, tailor, 45, born Mosboro.
There are some Herrings in the IGI for Eckington.
Rose (Black Country),Downs (Black Country),Wolloxall (any and all),Bark (Derbyshire),Wright (Derbyshire),Marsden (Derbyshire), Wallace (Black Country)

Gardener. Thanks for the information :)

I have traced this Herring family to Maltby Yorkshire to about 1688. I still can't find the death of John but suspect he had died even before 1851 although the census doesn't say Ann is a widow????

It's strange that John's granddaughter Ann (my Great Grandmother) married Samuel George Wright  GG Granfather from Derbyshire in 1885.!!!!!

I notice you are also interested in the Wright's in Derbyshire. Does Samuel George Wright appear in your Family?
I originate from West Bromwich in the Black Country but the names you quote mean nothing to me.

Thanks again for reply. Have a Happy New Year

Keith
