HI,   I am researching the Twigg family.  Elizabeth Knox married Captain John Twigg who was the brother of the Rev Samuel Twigg (my line).  I have found all this information very useful.  The photo of Sara Twigg that you have posted with the date (1950) - Is that the sister of John Thomas and Samuel Knox Twigg who married Frances Vance?   Do you have any information about Major General John Thomas or Samuel who married Frances and had Mabel Twigg who married Charles Johnson and Sidney who married john Kenworthy??

All the best for now

I know I am a year late. I share the interest of KILBY. I am a "local historian," living a short distance from where Samuel Knox TwiggE owned some 150 acres in Ruskin BC, Canada. He died in 1906. His wife's maiden name is Vance. I think she went back to the UK but I am not sure. They had a daughter named Sidney, who married John G. Kenworthy in 1910. He went to war and died in France in 1915. She went back to England around 1923.
SK's brother was Major General John Twigg(e) of which I also know very little. Could you help me learn more about Samuel Knox Twigge and brother John?
Thanks

Re: Steve's earlier problem in making the connection between Rev Thomas Twigg junior and Rev Blacker - Rev Twigg's great grandmother was Barbara Twigg née Blacker, and she in turn was descended from the first Lord Castlestuart. This information (in fact the complete line) is contained in a lecture which Rev Twigg gave in Ardboe in 1872, having been curate there in 1845-47. I have a copy of this lecture; I'm currently seeking a photograph of Rev Twigg, who died in Swords in 1909, having been the Prependary and Vicar of Swords for many years.

Steve, I tried to send you a personal message, so that I may forward the Rev Twigg article to you, but for some reason I have been told that I cannot send a personal message, even though I have done so in the past.......

Sorry, my understanding was that, to send personal messages, you only had to establish your credentials once on the site by way of three postings, rather than three postings on each topic.

To reiternate, per my previous message to Steve, I have a Word document containing the lecture given by Rev Thomas Twigg Junior in Ardboe in 1872, in which he describes his lineage. I also have a 1928 obituary of his youngest son, Colonel Edward Francis Twigg, who died in 1928.
