Hello, I have just read about William Melville Mitchell and his children, his first marriage was at Horsham Victoria on the 3rd of October 1883 when he married Elizabeth Thorne they had one son William George Thomas, in 1884. Elizabeth died several days after giving birth. William Melville
was the son of William and Martha nee Turner they ran the Western Hotel in Dunkeld Victoria Australia where young William was born. William had 3 sisters two who died as children and are buried with their parents in the old Dunkeld Cemetery. Martha was married to Thomas Clark and had seven children with him before she had 4 children with William Mitchell. I have the marriage cert of William Melvilles 1st and 3rd marriages. Does anyone have a copy of the 2nd marriage to Johanna Marie (I think may be her name, known as Anna) or any record of it?.
William Snr came from Portsmouth in England, he is the son of William Mitchell and it is possible that his mother was Sarah nee Miller and she was a retired shopkeeper in Portsmouth in 1851. Hope this helps you all a little. Regards H M
