Help - William BESWICK 1845
« on: Tuesday 27 March 07 00:43 BST (UK) »
hi

i don't have alot to go on...

William Beswick b1845ish  DARLINGTON so he always said on census returns

married 1866 to martha mcann july/august/september

I can find no trace of him or martha mcann prior to 1871 when he was married to Martha and was living at Scriven with Tentergate YORKSHIRE

if anyone can trace him/her prior to 1871 or find a birth certificate i would appreciate it

Benjamin is also a family forename but i don't want to just clutch at straws

they are a travelling family so its making it difficult for an amateur (me) lol :)

1841: Bridget McCann aged 45 Preston, Lancs
1851 Bridget MacCana aged 55 born Ireland living market Weighton
1861: Bridget Hartley 65, William Hartley 60, Martha Hartley 13 (born Thirsk) - this Bridget Hartley is in fact Bridget McCann, macanna, maccana. She is too old to have a daughter of 13 so likely this Martha was a grandaughter. She is born in Thirsk in the correct year for your Martha and has a grandmother called McCann. Could there be a link?
