Moses JONES of Ystrad Meurig
« on: Monday 26 March 07 06:47 BST (UK) »
Hello, I'm hoping that anyone with burials index access can look for-

Moses Jones, b. 21 Jun 1863 in Ystrad Meurig

He probably died after 1915. One account has him buried in Strata Florida cemetery, but I think that he's likely at his hometown.

Any assistance provided would be greatly appreciated - Chris

In 1901 he and his family were in Ystradyfodwg, Glamorgan. He was working in the mines at that point. He arrived in Pontypridd between 1881 and 1885, as he was married to Maria Smerdon on 31 August 1885.

Hi
What was his address Have you checked out l local cemeteries to his address.
I did check Trealaw for you only one moses Jones aged 28yrs in 1895
Have you tried to find his death in the death reg?
That would give you some idea where he was when he died.
Why do you think that he was not buried in the Rhondda?
cheers cardiff :(

Cardiff-

Unfortunately I don't have any solid information on him in his latter years. The story told to me by his granddaughter was that he left his wife at some point and didn't keep in contact with the family. He was rumoured to be interred at Strata Florida. My (limited) inquiries have not turned him up there, but since Ystrad Meurig is very close to Strata Florida, I thought that perhaps he might have returned to his hometown.

Also, I don't have a death date, which of course makes the whole investigation that much more difficult. It wouldn't be any fun researching Joneses without specific information  ::)

Thanks for your interest-
Chris
