Harting parish MEESAM

I have a marriage Margaret MEESAM = John GLUE/GLEW 1783 at Harting

Help with a look up for her baptism/parents,  and possible siblings would be much appreciated.

Jean,

I have checked the BVRI2 but Margaret doesn't appear in the index.  Since Harting is on the border with Hampshire, it is always possible her family may have come from there.  So I checked the Sussex Marriage Index to see if it gave any additional information on the marriage.  It has her name recorded as Margaret MEPHAM.  It still doesn't help, the marriage record doesn't record anything extra that would be helpful - both John and Margaret were described as otp.  It may be a good idea to check your original source material for the correct name.

Good to hear from you.   "Of the parish" appears to be conclusive. 

The record I have was taken from  Harting Parish Marriage Register, MF333, PAR98/1/2/3, Page 37, 1754 - 1812, WSRO, Chichester.

MEESAM link to my paternal  line from Trottescliffe, Kent and they had settled in Meopham, Kent. 

Wonder if a name and place has been scrambled in some way ....probably just a coincidence.

Will keep Hampshire in mind too.

would this have been the same woman?? maybe it was a middle name or something!

Interested in the Meesam/Messam in Harting -  and would be pleased to have more information - when you have time.

I remember we had looked at  MEPHAM - could be a scrambled transcription - at a guess?

Marriage I have noted is Margaret MESSAM = John BUGGS at St Margaret's Parish Church, Addington, Kent  20 Dec 1692

Churchwarden and Parish Registers.His burial March 1706 at Addington but brought from Trottescliffe village - her burial July 1723 at St Peter and St. Paul, Trottescliffe.
