Good evening, everyone,

My first post here, and I wouldn't generally put genealogical research at the top of my list of interests (perhaps not the best way to introduce myself here!), but I would be interested to find out the precise relationship between my late wife's family and Sir Arnold Bax.  My grandmother-in-law was a Moxham, descended from Samuel Moxham of Littleton Farm, Winford, Somerset, who married Susannah Bax in 1858, who apparently came from the Ockley branch of the family.  Sir Arnold's great-grandfather, Daniel Bax (b.1777) is mentioned in the Wikipedia article as being the first of the family to leave Ockley.  So whatever relationship there is is a very distant one, but as a musician I quite fancy fitting a great composer into my family tree.  Thanks, all.

Hi Foggy Dew

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

This is a really old topic and I don't know how many of the previous posters are still following it or are still researching the Bax family.

But as you seem to have stumbled across this topic following an internet search, it is entirely possible that someone can point you in the right direction, maybe not immediately but in the fullness of time.

Good luck

Dawn

Hello Kathryn

I have a copy of the Thistlethwaite book which I no longer require.  Please get in touch.

Peter Reid

I am interested in buying a copy of the Thistlethwaite book on the Bax family - do you still have a copy available?
