Any Libraries with Family History Resources

Hi Everyone

Are there any libraries in the area which hold parish records for the following areas.  I am unable to visit County Hall in Durham.

Bishop Middleham
Cornforth
Hett
Sunderland Bridge
Tudhoe

Any help would be appreciated.

A good place to look is Familia http://www.familia.org.uk/ - this gives an overview of family history-type holdings in libraries across the whole country. However, I've just had a look at the Durham page, and it seems a bit sparse. You might find more detail at the Durham County Council site www.durham.gov.uk

I have some records from Bishop Middleham and Cornforth depending on the years.  When and who are you looking for?

I am looking for death of Thomas Gillespie (bap July 1804), parents Thomas and Margaret.  Can't find him on any census's. I have all details of the Thomas that was born in 1811 though.
Cornforth
George E  Heald, born 1876.  I have baptisms up to 1872.

Does your Thomas William Gilhespy baptised 1804 have a sister Elizabeth Gilhespy born 1809 and brother to the Thomas born 1811?  Elizabeth married Robert Wilson in BMI.  Elizabeth's parents were Thomas and Margaret also.  Thomas sr died Dec 1857 and Margaret Jan 1860.

I would think that Thomas William would have died before 1811 when the other Thomas was born in the family otherwise there would be two Thomas Gilhespy's living at the same time in the same family.  I also wonder if they didn't move from the area for a while and that is why 3 children were baptised on the same day but born in different years.--John born 1807, Elizabeth above born 1809 and Thomas born 1811 all baptised 18 Oct 1812.

  I am not seeing a likely Thomas being buried between 1813-1839.

Not finding a burial in BMI for Thomas William--I would check Kelloe records.  I know my family moved between the two several times during those years.

I don't have Cornforth records that recent for George Heald.

I was thinking that the first Thomas may have died before 1811 but can't find the info.  Think I have replied to you before on a similar topic.  I am descended from the 2nd Thomas.  There was also another brother Luke Alexander, 1802.  He was born in St Martin in the Fields.
My sister has the family bible from this branch of the family.  It originally belonged to Hannah Nethercliff of Hartley Wintney, Hampshire, but I haven't been able to connect her with the family.  Do you have any links with this name.

No links with that name that I know of.  Wonder if th e death of the younger Thomas may have been out of the area if they were moving about some.

The name Luke is in this family.  I think that Thomas sr's father was a Luke.
