Family Tree - Holliday
« on: Saturday 27 November 04 15:26 GMT (UK) »
HOLLIDAY:would welcome contact with anyone whose ancestors were born in Culworth/Syresham, Northants, who moved to Aston/Birmingham about 1870.
I seem to have lots of relatives from these émigrés, but very few of them doing their FT.
Please prove me wrong!

I have 14 generations of Holliday from Scotland.  Starting with Thomas Holliday (1766) and residing in Pa.  I have no info on when or how he came to the USA.  Would be interested in exchange of info just to check on a possible connection. Doc  :)

I have the Hollidays from Culworth, some of whom moved to Aston in my tree. I connect to them through William (c1822) who married Eliza Bricknell (c1823) in Culworth on 15 Nov 1842.

I am related to the Hollidays who hailed from Culworth - my great grandfather was Reuben/Edward Holliday who eventually ended up in Aston, Birmingham.  His father was John Holliday (married to Ann Clarke).  I know John Holliday was born in 1810 in Culworth, but can get no further back than him.  Does anyone have any useful information?

Just beat me to it ;D ;D

John was the brother of my Sarah, she was baptised at Culworth in 1813.

BTW Culworth PRs are on FreeREG.

James Holliday married Catherine Lamb on 12/10/1809 at Culworth.

I have nothing definate before the marriage of James and Catherine at the moment.

Now it appears Catherine Lamb was born c1779

There is a baptism of a Catherine Lamb at Epwell Oxfordshire in 1780. Epwell is 16 miles from Culworth and my experience is that many people did move around at the end oif the 18th century and 16 miles wasn't far to move.

That Catherine was the daughter of John and Sarah Lamb, James and Catherine named their first 2 children John and Sarah, coincedence? I don't know.

I suspect that the Holliday, Holiday, Holyday, Hollyday family came from Syresham  Northants, not far from Culworth. I haven't got the baptism indexes after 1750, but a look up might find a James baptised c1775, and looking at marriages it looks like there were Lambs in Middleton Cheney/Chacombe, again not far away, so Catherine may have come from one of those villages.
