Hi again Daisymaisy -

Firstly - welcome to Rootschat.
You will find that everyone  here is very helpful and someone will always try to help if they can. Giving a donation is a lovely gesture and very thoughtful. Mo has given some useful info too.
I'm just pleased that it's the right family and glad to help.
Well - here are the details from the earlier census(I've never done a look-up from a Scottish census before and unfortunately I can't seem to see the original page as I could have sent them to you)

I think I might have found your family on the 1841(as far back as the census records go). I will do another post soon if you can bear with me.

I hope this will help

(Mo -well done-I'd be interested to know where you found the details-
they're very useful-especially the parents names)

Hi daisymaisy
I thought you would like to have a look at the 1841 details- it looks
like Alexander's father was from Ireland - maybe that's why they went there - if there was a connection

1841 -
James Brian     1801  Ireland
Jane                 1801  Kircudbrightshire
Thomas            1822
James               1823
Alexander         1825
John                 1827
Robert              1832
William             1839
Jane                 1839

Address  Birtwhistle Street Girthon
All children born  in Kirkcudbrightshire

1901
Alexander Bryant  21  Ireland     Iron Polisher
Amelia                   23  Glasgow
James                    1   Glasgow

Address  51 Landressy Street Glasgow

Maybe a possibility for the marriage of James Brian and Jane(1841)
On the IGI
James Bryan to Jean(Jane??) McMillan on 20th October 1820 in
Girthon Kirkcudbrightshire (just maybe!)
Here's the link

If you need any more help just ask - if I can't help someone will try if they can

Neptune

Hi there,

I think I could be related to you. My great grandfather is Robert Brian, whose parents are Alexander Bryon and Margaret Grey. Robert married Elizabeth Marshall and the family moved to Ayrshire where most of my family still reside.

Margaret Grey's parents are Robert Grey and Christina Shaw. Alexander's parents are James Brian and Jean McMillan. I'm sure you'll have all this info. I looked in to this a few years back so I can maybe help a little...I'm certainly no expert!!

I didn't realise there was a link to Cork....This is the first time I've ever posted something on here so here's hoping you get this.
