I also have Taggarts from Antrim going back to the early 1800s, i too am having difficulty finding them in Ireland records( probably because they where destroyed).

Mine starts with John Taggart married to Agnes Christie

the 7 children of John Taggart married to Agnes Christie i know of are

John 1832
Elizabeth Carnochan 1834
Margaret 1840 - 1896 West Benhar
Mary Jane 1843 - 1843
Mary Jane 1845
Ellen 1846
William 1852 - 1919 Bellshill

All the children were born in Gallanagh Grange of Shilvodan.

William and Maragret moved to Scotland but i can`t verify if any others followed.

This may help ?

Regards

William
Taggart, Stewart,Wright, Gordon, Baxter, Caldwell, Wilson, Workman, Leckie,Johnstone, Christie,
Taggarts Shilvodan N Ireland .McKay, McKinnon, Clelland, wilson.

There’s this family in Gallanagh in 1901:

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Antrim/Shilvodan/Gallanagh/916697/

I think Rebecca may have been Rebecca Houston. Married Wm Taggart 1851. (His father was also William).

A possible member of the family:
