Census Look up Please

Am trying to find the Birthdate/Parents of my Great Grandfather JOSEPH ROGERS who came to London about 1865.  All censuses after this date state that he was born at Northleach, Gloucestershire about 1844. I have been unable to find a Joseph Rogers born  Northleach Gloucestershire on the earlier censuses.
   We did manage to find a marriage certificate for him at Brighton in 1867 and he stated his fathers name was John Rogers -deceased- Occupation Stableman.
Any help appreciated.

hi marge,
if you go into genuki, enter northleach, you will find census transcripts for all of the northleach registration areas. chances are your joseph came from one the surrounding villages.

1851 - 42 Barton Street, Barton St Mary, Gloucester

Head - Elizabeth Smith - Publican
Son Daniel Smith

Then a list of Five visitors plus..

John Rogers 29yrs, Hostler(under relation to head) born in North leach

The only thing is it states he is unmarried.

Many thanks for that Julia. I suppose it might be him but until I can see a John Rogers with a child born about 1843/4  I cannot tell.
