Hi to all
I followed up a family story about my mother's second cousin running away to Australia before WW2 & thanks to Trish251 I have now received his service records from NAA.
I wondered if there is any way I can try to chase this relative up through BMD after the war?
Richard Pearce Threlfall b 2/10/1912 England
Enlisted 23/7/1941 at Claremont WA in the AIF & gave his address as Salmon Gums, WA.
Discharged 26/10/1944 as a Sapper in RAE & gave his address as 1111 Hay St, W Perth.
I'd really love to find out if he ever married / had children. I'm researching him partly for my own interest but more specifically for my mother's second cousin [his nephew] and my grandfather's remaining cousins [his sisters] who are still alive aged 81 & 91 respectively.
I believe the family tried to get in touch with him in the 1960s when his parents celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary but I don't think they knew where he was by then.
Although I don't anticipate he will still be alive, the men in his part of the family do tend to be long-lived. His grandfather [whose name he shared] died in 1949 aged 94, his uncle was 76 when run over in a car accident & his father survived being gassed in WWI & died aged 90.
I'd be very grateful for any pointers or advice, for sites to search - anything at all to try to take this further, if possible.
Thanks
SandraC
