Al, My interest is only a passing one, hope you may have an answer for me. My main Somerset interest is the Beare families of Yeovil.
Charles Dyke Beare of Yeovil married Harriett Norman of Shepton Mallett in Jun qtr 1868, St Pancras.
Charles and Harriett lived in Yeovil, Somerset, and tracing Harriett back through the censuses, she appears as Harriett Blenman in 1841 census.

Mary Blenman, F, 30, Y
Harriett Blenman, F, I, Y

By 1851 the family has changed the surname to Norman, and Daniel is a widow. His brother Adam Norman (Blenman in 1841 census) is living with the family.

In Dec qtr 1851 he remarries as Daniel Blinman Norman and from then onwards there is no reference to Blenman/Blinman.
I am hoping you can throw some light on the reason for the name change from Blenman to Norman.
Daniel and Adam were baptised as Blinman/Blenman in Hephzibah Independent, Shepton Mallet, according to IGI.
