1911 Census KITCHEN
« on: Friday 09 March 07 13:53 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know whether we are able to request a look at the 1911 Census please?

I have read that you may be able to have a "look up" of the 1911 census if you have an address for that year.  My grandmother Emma KITCHEN nee STYAN died aged 38 in Gateshead in April 1911, the year of the Census.  The address on the death certificate, gives the informant Anthony KITCHEN her husband who also lives there.

This is so important to me, as they are nowhere to be found on the 1901 census, the Gateshead Library was unable to find them and they are not on the 1901 online.  I believe I have researched the wrong family of KITCHEN, as I used the age at death of my grandfather in Gateshead, and trawled for many months through the death indexes at my local library, the Anthony I found that matched was from Penrith!!

My father died when I was 24, after being in the RAF for 30 years, I was the eldest child of a second marriage.  He was away for most of WW11, so my memories of what he said of his KITCHEN's are slim, he did say when he was a Warrant Officer at Linton on Ouse, his mother was from Whixley, which was true.
