b'ham kelly directory look up please
« on: Thursday 08 March 07 10:50 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to locate Frank Hardy's opticians and artificial limb shop in Summer Row, Birmingham. I know in 1909 and 1910 it was 129 Sandpits, and in 1912  had moved to 79 Parade
"Sandpits" "Parade" and "Summer Row" are all part of the same road  and may be listed as either.  I don't know when it opened or closed ! I'm new to this site!

I've recently found a pair of Pince nez with the label Frank Hardy Opticians in it. The address is 33-37 Summer Row, Birmingham.
Inside the little blue velvet lined black case It actually says, Finder will be rewarded on returning glasses to ....... And the number 446.
I found them in my mothers house a couple of weeks ago. She was born in Sparkbrook in 1922.
Have you found out any more about the shop ?

Hi Leelou. Sorry I've only just seen your reply . Good job I still had my browsing history open otherwise I might have forgotten. I don't seem to be able to PM you as it says I have to have posted 3 things or something before I can . Very odd. Also says your inbox is 100% full so you might not get this :-(. Shame we can't email.  I was going to try and find out a bit more about the glasses. I have no idea if they are worth anything.mi wish I knew why I found them in my Mums house. She passed away 6 weeks ago :-(. Let me know if you get this. Ttfn
