Hello bergs,
Thanks for your interest.
The LANDRY family who were living at 21 Heatons Houses, Rumworth, near Bolton in Lancashire in 1881 (Census Ref RG11/3820/90/34/1341913) are Joseph (aged 30 - a Cotton mill fireman), his wife Mary J (aged 26) and their nephew William H Gandy (aged 5).
Joseph LANDRY was the brother of my Great Grandmother Caroline Jane LANDRY. The family came from the Busveal/Camborne/Feock/Gwennap/Truro area of Cornwall and at some stage their surname became transformed from LAUNDER. Their parents were William LAUNDER (part of family with long-standing roots in the Redruth area) and Jane LIBBY and they had 6 other children.
Living nearby at no. 40 Heatons Houses are a LIBBY family, relatives of my Great Great Grandmother Jane LIBBY.
There are also other LANDRY families living in the Bolton/Manchester area at this time.
I'm in touch with other people researching these names so which particular LANDRYs are you looking for?
Hope we connect, but I'm not holding my breath.
Regards,
alhal
