I was born in Ireby Cumberland and I am just now starting my search for my historical family.  I was born in 1943 and Joseph Scott was my father and Margret Isabel (nee McGuffie) was my mother I had 4 sisters and we emigrated to Canada around 1951 or 1952.  My parents owned the Sun Inn in Ireby and they told me we were related to John Peel..  They had some hunting relics belonging to John Peel, a riding crop, stirrups, photographs and a few other things.  They sent them to a  museum in England.  My sister still has John Peels hunting vest...he was not a large man and another sister has a doll in perfect condition that belonged to one of John Peel's daughters.  I would love to hear from anyone who can help me with my search as I know nothing about as to how to get started.

Does anyone know if John and Mary had a son called George (possible dates are 1814 to 1899) who was married to Hannah Jackson in about 1842?

George is listed on many family trees as the son of John  Peel and Mary White, with Hannah Jackson as his wife.  If you do not have access to ancestry, try the sister site www.mundia.com where you will be able to access the information and have contact with the tree owners.

George was also listed on this link - http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/p/e/n/William-Penrice/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-1246.html

Many thanks for your swift response, Sandra. I am indeed on Ancestry but very few of my Member Connections feature George on their trees so I am pleased that you have confirmed that he does exist! Am grateful also for the links which I will certainly follow up.
Regards
Malcolm

Hi Waverhouse, George Peel and Hannah Jackson were my 3x grandparents. My tree is on ancestry if you are interested. You will need to contact me through it if you wish to see it. There is quite a lot of info on there.

Hello Tracie. Thanks for your reply. Would be most interested to see your tree on Ancestry. Is a private or a public tree - what is your username?

Hi Malcolm,

My username is traciejones_1.  The tree you need is  McCoy family tree.

It is private but if you contact me through it I will try and open it to you. My subscription runs out tommorrow so fingers crossed.
By the way, how are you connected to George and Hannah?
