Address in Hampton
« on: Monday 05 March 07 11:19 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I have just received a marriage certificate which tells me that a relative lived at 2 Kempton Villas Hampton. There is no road or Street. I tried Google. Does anyone know where this was? Also the name of the church is not given just says The Parish Church Hampton, in 1926 the vicar was E.E. Charles or Churchs or Clarks (something like that). I had a look at a few church websites but there was little information available. I thought if the vicar could be identified I might be able to get the right church.
Familylore says that this person married in Hampton Court Palace by special Licence...the certificate bursts that bubble!!

Thanks for any help.

A google search would have been a good start.

This comes up as a 'good' candidate.

The address also shows up on the 1901site (by address).

You'll have to purchase credits to get the ref.

I've got a 1937 map and there is a Kempton Road and a Kempton Park in the area.

Philimore's Atlas lists the parish church as Hampton, St Mary

Kempton Park is a racecourse - don't know if that's the one you found Dawn.

Kempton Park Race course is at Sunbury - actually between Sunbury and Hampton. There are parts of Hampton which are near or overlook the back of the race course

It might be in that area

It is  :)

But in 1937 it's only a fraction of the size it is now.

Hi
Thank you. I had found St Mary's but there was also a St James which came up so was not sure. I am a member of Ancestry,  is this the 1901 site that you are referring to? I didn't know that you could search by address would you mind telling me how I do that please? Many Thanks
