Hi boothby,
Have you tried contacting Goole library, they might have archived newspapers, surely a death in the docks would have been reported.

Ticker,  surely this should be in the East Yorkshire board, or has everyones favourite town been moved again. :D

happy hunting

Hi Bee

Profuse apologies for relocating Goole!  ;D

I got a bit carried away!

I am moving it to the East Riding Board as you suggest.

Thanks for letting me know!

Best wishes

In Oct. '05 I started researching the 452 names on Goole Cenotaph from WW1, Edward Duckels Collier being one of them.
In doing my research I have found a number of records that relate to some of those named, including Edward. I located his Army Pension record and putting that together from what was printed in the Goole Times I know what happened to him.
If it is possible I would certainly like to speak to you about the material I have.
Regards.
I am researching the 452 names on Goole Cenotaph from the 'Great War'. Have located a number of official records, material and details from the Goole Times printed throughout the War years. In addition I have also obtained copies of photos & letters from relatives of those named on the Cenotaph. In addition I am also researching 280+ men who all had a connection with Goole and who also died, but who are not named on the Cenotaph.

I haven't seen/got a picture of Edward. As he died after being discharged from the Army there is no picture of him within the Goole Times 1919 Almanac that lists soldiers & sailors who died during the previous year, or within the paper that details the inquest. Was/is there any extra info with the picture? Have forwarded on his pension record to boothby, waiting for her to get back to me.

Have had a look at the photo, and it is embosed with the 'Briggs Boothferry Road Goole' logo in the bottom right.
