All the children's baptisms were in Basingstoke.  I found the marriage of a Hannah Page to James Marlow in 1810 in Wield on the IGI.  Unfortunatley the baptisms for Wield are not on the IGI , but I suspect that is where Harriet might be found sometime 1811 or 1812.  George must be another child.

Thanks again Nell, there is a possiblity, now that I have had time to think about it, that Isaac could have been the father of Elizabeth Wise age 2 years, who was with the family in the 1851 census.

Sometimes it takes a while for things to sink in with us old folks  :-[

Thanks too to all for your input with this one. It is greatly appreciated.

I WAS having a senior moment last night.

If Harriett was married to Isaac Wise and they had a daughter Sarah Ann in 1837.

Isaac died in 1838.

But according to the 1851 census there is an Elizabeth Wise age 2 yrs, living at the same address as Harriett and Elizabeth is named as James Marlow's granddaughter.

No sign of Sarah Ann though at the address in 1851, she would have been about 14 yrs then.

Is it me, or is there something odd here?

Have to go check a few things out.

Have found a death ref for Sarah Ann Wise,
Basingstoke June Qtr 1842 Vol 7 page 36.
So sadly that line has gone.

Birth record for Eliza Wise
Basingstoke Dec Qtr 1848 Vol 7 page 52.

I am pretty sure mine was named Eliza, as all the census returns except the 1841 give her name as that. The 1841 says Elizabeth and I cannot find any trace of an Elizabeth born aound 1848. So I am assuming again that the enumerator for the 1841 decided her name was Elizabeth and not Eliza.

I will send off for the birth cert as I am very intrigued in finding out who the fathers is.

The birth cert has arrived

Eliza Wise born 18th Oct 1848 at 11 am Chapel St, Basingstoke.

Father, Henry Smith a Labourer. I wonder if that name was picked out of the air  ;D

Hello
I picked up on your Berkshire interest in the Marlow family. My Marlow ancestors may have a link to Bradfield. Does this connect with yours I wonder?
