So I gather from this that none of the James Hills on the Tasmanian convict index were tried in Somerset ? If you contact the archive and ask if any of them in the period you specify were tried in Somerset they may answer you in fact I would ask them to send on the convict records for all the James Hills in the period specified It'll cost you about 30 bucks but save you a whole lot of grief If you haven't already received the guys records from the Ratcliffe then do so, the indent will give you a description and in most cases name his parents and siblings The conduct record will tell you
who he was assigned to where and when he was convicted and whole lot of other stuff  come on girl go out and get what you want email the Archive cheers Chris

 Thanks Chris,
I will let you know how I get on. I guess that will solve something once and for all.
