Worthington's and Staples families
« on: Tuesday 27 February 07 11:17 GMT (UK) »
Hello everyone in my favourite City of Liverpool!
I am researching the Staples family who came to Liverpool when the Harbour of Beaumaris on Anglesey closed, they moved to Liverpool with it being the nearest port I presume. I am doing quite well, and can trace a lot of them to the Toxteth area.
My Grandmother (who was a Staples ) married William Worthington and hence the new Worthington line began. My great great great grandfather was Richard Worthington (b 1774) who married a Sarah Prue. They had my g.g. Grandfather Richard Worthington(1811) who was a baker, I think in the West Derby area. He married Mary and their son Edwin Worthington my g Grandfather was a hairdresser.
I am new to computer chat, and this is my first time.
Anybody out there who may be connected in anyway, would love to hear from you!

Hi Rosie,

I've just been reading your post, I think the 'favourite city' got me!  ;)

Although I'm not related in any way, I thought I'd be 'ard-faced' and follow your clues! I hope you don't mind.  ::)

I know you've got a lot, if not all of this info but just in case, here goes...

1871 Census/LancsBMD
Edwin Worthington b1848 hairdresser employing one apprentice, living at 25 Lodge Lane, Toxteth Park.
Mary Bennett (Wife) b1848.  Married 1868 St George, Everton
Sarah A. Worthington (daughter) b1870

Is this his dad?
From the 1851 Census
Richard Worthington b1811 Occ. Baker
Sarah (Wife) b1812
Martha (daughter) b1832
Cordelia (daughter) b1836
Richard J. (Son) 1837
Mary E. (daughter) b1839
Thomas (Son) b1841
Edwin (Son) b1848
Virginia? (daughter) b1850

Address in 1851: Marlborough St. 1 Court
(They moved about from census to census but seemed to remain in the Scotland Road area.)
Hope I'm not barking up the wrong 'tree', so to speak.

By the way, West Derby registration district extended to Warrington and beyond in those days!!

Here's some sites you may find useful :

If I can be of help, just give a shout!  Bye for now,

Hi Rosie,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, I hope you have a nice day.

Just a tip, don't take any info you are given 'as read' - try to check it out yourself before putting it in your 'tree'.

Bye for now,

feralcat

So thanks again
