Tonight, I happened to read your request (made 5 years ago) re Pilley.
As Pilley was such a very uncommon name in Herefordshire, I’m wondering whether you are descended from Mr William Pilley (died at Holme Lacy, aged 64 years in 1832) and / or James Pilley (enrolled at the Bluecoat School in the city of Hereford in 1838).
Although the Pilley Collection of Documents is well-known, I had not given any thought to who the Pilley family were.
I’d be interested to hear about your Pilley ancestors of Herefordshire.
