Hi Allan,

There is a marriage on www.cheshirebmd.org.uk for Paul D OAKES to Sybil R SMITH , Crewe Civil Marriage in 1955.

You could ask for an electoral roll lookup, if you post on census and resource discussion and ask for someone to contact you via PM you could then supply the names privately, but you are correct, you shouldn't post the information on the boards.

You will probably need to know whereabouts they live now.

Jean

Hi garstonite,

Do you know when they died and where buried? A posting to a Davenport thread recently, suggested that Crewe Cemetery would take phone enquiries for finding plots - which I suspect may well include a last known address.
Other than that a search for an death/obituary notice in a Crewe newspaper might be fruitful and may also include a list of mourners.

Thanks Odessa - I would say Paul Oakes died about 1980-1982...and Sybil Oakes a few years later ...

Looking at the GRO indexes the death of a Paul David Oakes is registered in the 3Q of 1986 in the Congleton & Crewe district.
the index gives a date of birth as 21 OCT 1917

is this your man? (middle name might fit with marriage details)

not had any luck with Sybil......

Yes Odessa - my Uncle Paul was born 1917 - didn`t know his middle name was David ..he was a Railway worker and moved to Crewe from Garston ...just checked my tree and I have that he died about 1988 - so I must have been with him at a funeral about 1982 - when my Uncle Jimmy died ...so that certainly looks like him ...thanks very much Odessa - I will get Crewe Cemetery phone number and try and get a last address for him - wouldn`t it be nice if one of the 3 sons were still at the last address
cheers...some headway at last ...

Hi
My friends parents lived in the New st area of Crewe and were moved to the Brookhouse estate that had just been built. The estate is off Gresty road.  I live in Crewe and if you contact the Crewe cemetery for a location of the graves that you want, I am willing to take photos for you
