A friend has just asked me if there is anyone who can do what she and her son can do ... which is to close off the top/inside of her nose ?  So if you jump into a pool, for e.g., the water doesn't go up your nose ?  And useful against bad smells !   She thinks its closing the back of her soft palette ...

My Dad could wiggle his nose like Samantha the witch but I can't ...drats!  ::)
I can do the eyebrow thing and have dominant left thumb. The people who intrigue me are those that can actually "click" their thumbs.

Earlobes or the lack of them is also another trait

Two brown eyed people can have a blue eyed child
if both parents have the recessive gene (blue eyed)
BUT if one parent has both brown and BROWN
genes this will not result in a Blue eyed child.

One daughter can touch her nose with tongue - like my m-i-law!  She also has a double bit in her ear lobe - as did my uncle!

Things like eye colour aren't entirely genetic.  I know someone whose eye colour changed!

Eye colour is also linked to hair colour (although not linked to red hair) as the genes are very close to each other, which makes it far less likely that the father's chromosome and the mother's chromosome which swap in between those genes.

Also, contrary to popular belief, red hair is a separate gene to blonde/brown hair.

I have red hair, so did my great grandfather on my mother's side but I'm not entirely sure where it came from on my dad's side.

Me and hubby - both dark haired - him with green eyes and me with hazel eyes - our eldest has brown hair with dark brown eyes, our middle has dark brown with green eyes, and our youngest has very light brown hair with blue eyes - not sure where he comes from!

I can roll my tongue, raise my left eyebrow only, I have a loose "disclocated" thumb on each hand, I can do the Star Trek sign, and embarrassingly can touch my nose with my tongue!!!  I was always told I could only do that because I talked too much!  :)

When putting our hands together my daughter has her left thumb on top - whereas me and hubby have our right thumbs at the top.
