GORMAN/ LISLE/ McINNIS
« on: Tuesday 20 February 07 18:45 GMT (UK) »
Trying to trace Bridget Lisle (nee Gorman )(Father James Gorman)  Bridget was widowed and then married Thomas McInnes.(1845)  I know that the second marriage was armed forces in Madras,I can only assume that the first husband Lisle was also army/  I am really struggling here and hope that one of these names rings a bell with someone,   Thankyou.

Hello  J.Patricia D,

You may have to look for M'Guinness and Maginnes as well as McInnes.

Hi Christopher,  Thanks so much for the input. I have found that also sometimes its McInnes other times McInnis. I will add your spellings to my list.
I do know that in 1844 Thomas McInnis was in army camp in Ireland. with the 25th rgt.  I have copies of the muster /payroll sheets, with his army # but still not able to track his birthplace/exact date of birth.Death...  I have his marriage cert to Christine Lisle, widow,( (nee Gorman) 1845 Madras. states father. William McInnes.  I have been going round with this for a couple of years,,  Thanks for your in terest and I will look into it....J
