Census look up please- Hughes

Hope someone can help. I'm looking for Thomas Hughes c1841 in Ireland. I have found him in 1891 at 6 Prospect Road, Parr, Lancs.

He is living with his wife, Ellen c1839, 2 children Mary, c1869, and John c1871, and his grandson, Peter 1889.

I'd like to know where the family were previous to1891.

If you look at the 1891 image - you will find son Patrick was living 2 doors away - shown as b Staffordshire - Wednesbury

Patrick 24 coal miner
Kate wife 26 b Ireland
James Murphy 30 boarder b Ireland

On the 1891 - daughter Mary aged 22 (1869)  is also shown as b Wednesbury whereas son John aged 20 (1871) is shown as b Ireland.  Looks as though the family returned to Ireland at some stage

Grandson Peter aged 2 was the illegitimate son of daughter Mary Hughes.  By 1901 she has married Henry Costello and they are living in Ashton in Makerfied with Peter and other children of the marriage.  All  b St Helens unless shown otherwise

1901 census - daughter in law Kate & family are living with Thomas & Ellen in Ashton in Makerfield in the same road as the Costello's  Kate (Katherine) is shown as married but no Patrick

Thomas was b 1866 (ish) not 1876

I have looked at Thomas Hughes b Ireland and Staffordshire as it's difficult to know exactly where he was born.  None live in the Haydock/St Helens area

Hi Rachael  this post was a few years ago so this is a long shot but I'm looking for the same family!!!
My GGGrandfather was Thomas Hughes b1841 Clifden Galway married to Ellen.
His son Patrick b1866 was my GGrandfather and his youngest son John b1903 my Grandfather.
I'm thinking I've found a relative???
