Hi morgana

Welcome to RootsChat.

Here are Elizabeth and two of the children still in Albion Place. I cannot see James and William at the moment. The names of the two people staying with them are very difficult to read (I have shown my best guess).

Have you had a look at this one ?

Clifton, Westbury HO107/1955 Folio 439 Page 27

Clifton Union Workhouse

There is a James Noble aged 64 Married from Bristol who’s occupation is shown as File Cutter.

There seems to be only one other James Noble on the 1841 census in the area and his age might be more in line with the person shown above. However, that James was described as a Labourer on the 1841 census whereas your man was described as a Smith in 1841 and a File Cutter in 1861.

It could be either of them (but your James was certainly not at home with his wife and children at the time).

Have a look and see what you think !

Thank you DS for that info It's certainly appreciated. I have a death cert for Elizabeth Noble 1880 Barton Regis widow of James and what looked like FUR cutter. You have cleared that one up, obviously file cutter. It's Henry I've been chasing all over. My Henry was a baker. Hoping these are his people.
