Lucy Ann Simpson - born c1845
« on: Thursday 15 February 07 22:23 GMT (UK) »
Lucy Ann Simpson was born in Cotgrave in about 1845. Father Benjamin, mother Ann Thumbs.
Can someone look up birth in Parish Records.
Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike

I don't normally reply when it is negative but I have done an extensive search on the Nottm Fam Hist Soc Cds births, marriages and deaths and cannot find anything. I have also looked on Ancestry and found nothing.

Is your information solid?

It may mean the archives or were they not C of E. There were alot of FWKs in Cotgrave so could they have been 'chapel'?

Hi Jane

Yes, the info I gave seems solid. I have a copy of Lucy's marriage certificate to James Turner on 3 Dec 1866 at St Lukes, Westminster and it gives father as Benjamin Simpson. Traced them via census with sister Zillah, unusual name, gives birthplace as Cotgrave.

Mind she seems to have been called Ann in early life after mother. Perhaps she made up the Lucy part?

Hi,
Do you know who Ann's parents were?
We have the same surname, further down the line the name changed from Thumbs to Thums.
Thanks
