Basely marriage
« on: Thursday 15 February 07 21:34 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I was just wondering if someone could do a look up of the marriage of Wiliam Basely and Ann Swift in Blaby 06/04/1822?
I'd like to know who Ann's parents were.
Many thanks.

Hi

I checked for that marriage at Blaby and it doesn't seem to be there ! where did you get the info from?

Even if it was it would be very unlikely to have the parents names on it, that form of marriage entry din't come in in this country until 1837 - the best you might get will be the names of the two witnesses, who might or might not be related to the people getting married

OK - I have found the marriage on the IGI - and it does say Blaby, I checked with Leics family hist soc's parish register veiwer which covers Blaby for this period and its not there - very strange - the only thing I can suggest is you try and get someone to check with the original (it still won't give you parents names though)

Leics. Marriage Index (1822) and Pallotts Marriage Index (6 Apr 1822) both have this for Blaby. According to the latter, William was a Widower.
