Archives have War diaries for regiments and battalions

http://www.documentsonline.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

then click on Browse Categories >Other records and choose Military & Defence

Then search or browse within this for the war diaries.


Apparently you can buy them - but you can read them on line I heard - haven't tried that yet !!!

hello folks,which lancashire regts are you looking for and from which period,i have the names of all those who died in ww1 who served in lancs regts,i also have a full list of all the lancs fusiliers who served in the 15th,16th,19th and 20th batts lancs fusiliers in ww1 and many more,manmack
military history,mainly ww1,manchester pals battalions,tyneside irish +tyneside scottish brigades,leeds,liverpool,accrington,birmingham,hull,barnsley,swansea and salford pals.

I know he was at Fort Regent in the Channel Islands in 1891 for the census I know he was at the Relief of Maferking and he was in France in WW1 but that's all I know....
