Hi Blue Spirit and many thanks for your post -it certainly cheered up a gloomy day.  I was still looking for Samuel's Sarah & up 'til now I'd drawn a blank, so Miss Barker is a find and a half.  Sam n' Sarah's first child was b 1818, so the dates are OK....if you could have a look at the Larling records I should be very grateful indeed.
I learned recently that a Robert Smith of Old Buckenham  left a Samuel Smith money for an appenticeship as a carpenter-dates OK for my Samuel & one of his boys was called Robert.  Not evidence, I know, but worth having a look at.
