Thanks all for your very helpful suggestions- another possibility might be Outwood?

Maybe Abner had a strong accent, or maybe the enumerator was just imaginative with his spelling- it took me ages to find him on the 1851 census since his name is spelt 'Abenor'!

Unfortunately, the 1851 census only shows Rickmansworth as his residence, nothing more. He was a paper mill worker and died in Batchworth, so maybe he lived near a paper mill there.
