Hi Joe,

No problem, next time I am there, I will look them up.  I always like to sneak away to the library, I have a 2, 4 and 6 year old, plus husband so nice to go somewhere where there is peace and quite  ;D

There is a Thomas Coupland who left England in March 1893, destination Ontario, In Transit, occupation Farm Servant.  He arrived in New York, New York on the Etruria.  His age is listed as 24 years old

Not sure if this is your man, but it's not uncommon for people to come to Ontario via New York, it was just as easy as coming in through the Canadian Ports.

I've just been searching for the same Thomas Coupland! Thomas Coupland is my mother in-law's great-grandfather and John Richard (born 1893) her grandfather. I was trying to find the cause of Rebecca Ann Coupland's death when I stumbled on this forum page. Are you descended from one of the Canada born Couplands, Joe?

Probably Rebecca, as it looks to be Coupland on actual image, altho transription says Campland (  Hit view record to see ) age 21 by herself, headed for Toronto (Sept. 6 1885 CIRCASSIAN)

If I find him, I'll add it to this reply as he'd have probably come out first
~~~
No...I cannot find him
Well I tried same ship, using T* and found a Thos. ?? But your guess is a good as mine as to what the page actually has written on it...I even took it into my image program to darken & smooth but I don't see any Thos or ages at all
