Aston is part of Birmingham now and is on the Nuneaton side.

As regards a photo I will see what I can do, could you send me a personal message so I can contact you direct.

Did you have an address on your dad's birth certificate Mintola? I have just spent two hours going through the electors lists for 1914 for Nuneaton and areas around and could not find Edden anywhere! Very elusive character I feel!
Could not find his marriage in five Parishes in Nuneaton either but there were other churches who came under Nuneaton in those days and we havn't got them here, also could have been Catholic or some other denomination or even a Register Office.

My fathers name was George Edden Smith (born 1915) as was his fathers. His father was born in 1884 in Brackley Northants. George seniors parents were John & Ellen Smith they had 6 other children Mary,John,James,William,Edith & Edden.
My mother was also a Smith as her father was my fathers fathers  brother.(Not illegal) although I do not know which of the brothers was her dad and I cannot rememer her mothers name.
My mother lived in Nuneaton with her 2 brothers Frederick & Reginald William John (who was known as Jack)

blueeyes, I just got your messages, you must be some cousin of my hubby's by the sound of it, was your mum Jean? Sorry for not replying to this topic I had not had any messages recently regarding it. There was an address on the birth certificate for Edden Smith, it was something like Wimpstone Whitchurch, which we passed on a recent visit to the Midlands, I am trying to work out the connection, but I have an idea who you may be, do you have a brother who lived with your mum?
My email is not working sorry
