Hi Clive,
I've got some information for you from the Queensland State Archives. I hope it all makes sense.
From the immigration books:
ACKWORTH
ship: Almora
arrived: 22 Sept 1886
IMM/121, p347 & 348, film Z1963
Alice age 11
Arthur 2
Clara 4
George 9
Lewis J 32
Lilly 32
Walter 6
William Inf
from the film I discovered that Lewis J was a plumber and all the family came from Surrey.
ACWORTH
ship: Duke of Buccleuch
arr: 23 Sept 1885
IMM/120, p324, film Z1962
Alfred William age 19 from Surrey
Edward H 22, general labourer from Kent
Emma 48, from Kent
Eva 11, from Kent
Louis 49, labourer from Kent
BRYANT (are these yours?)
ship: Duke of Westminster
arr: 8 Dec 1884
IMM/119, p306, film Z1961
Elizabeth M age 33
William H age 28
I couldn't see any obvious Bielby's arriving in Brisbane.
From a different film (immigration agents):
Date of arrival of ship Almora Sept 22 1886
Date of departure from depot Sept 24
Louis Ackworth and family (note spelling Louis rather than Lewis)
In the column headed "whether under management" is written "friends" and "address" is Toowong. So it appears that the family are either visiting or staying with friends in Toowong (a Brisbane suburb)
Duke of Buccleuch arrived Sept 24 1888, departed depot Sept 25.
Louis Acworth
In the column headed "whether under management" is written "work", and in the column headed "name and address of person by whom engaged" is simply written Toowong.
That's all the information so far. Let me know if you'd like more. For example, I didn't look at the film to see the Bryants, and I did not search thoroughly for Bielbys (just had a look at the immigration books). It's no trouble if you need anything else looked up.
I did have a look for wills/intestacies for Louis d 1890 and Elizabeth d 1937, but could find nothing I'm afraid. (I didn't take any other death dates with me).
Hope this helps you in your search. Good luck.
