Hi Billiejo,

Does the Pension Board give out family history type info?  What date span do they work within?

Best wishes

Doubtful whether this website would give information for family research like the old pension applications- think that it's for current pensions?

If you try this one you should have better luck.

Thank you Creaney!

I just had a look and ordered the records of two of my relatives - they verify the pensioner's age by referring to the 1841 and 1851 Irish census (claims made in 1908 - before the census details were destroyed in the great fire of 1922).  It only cost £1 per record.  I'll report back when I have received the results.

Best wishes

The Pensear site has great promise...shame though that the coverage is so limited.

I've sent them an email asking if all other counties will eventually be made available.

Leofric.... I hope you get what you want. I have had a couple of batches from them for Tyrone & Armagh I think it was 60p a time then, I wasn't aware that they didn't have the whole country. But as you say a very good resource.

Good luck.

Was thinking about ordering pension info. but don't know how to go about it.

Person I am hoping to find is William Stevenson (c1827-1916). The problem: He was born William Stephens c1827 in County Londonderry, son of a John Stephens. The famiy probably moved to Co. Antrim before 1850. At some point William changed his name from Stephens to Stevenson although even in 1900s the name was sometimes written as Stephens.
Now, any ideas what pension record, if it exists, would be under? William Stevenson Co. Antrim (#17415) or William Stevenson Co. Londonderry (#8029)- I can't see any under William Stephens.
