mackman family
« on: Saturday 03 February 07 11:33 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help?  I am trying to trace the parents of my grandfather James Edward Mackman.  He was born 21st December 1894. His parents are listed on the certificate as Jacob Mackman and Mary Ann Mackman nee Hill.
The address is given as Spalding Road, Whaplode Drove.
Registration District is Holbeach and Sub District is Gedney Hill.
I cannot find a Jacob who married a Mary Ann Hill.
I would appreciate any information.

Hi Sylvann,

Welcome to RootsChat  8)

This is really odd - there is only one Jacob Mackman that I can see at all, and he lives in the right place in both 1891 and 1901.

Yet he has a wife Elizabeth. Searching for a Mackman/Hill marriage, this is the only one popping up:
Marriages Dec 1890
Holbeach  7a 793
Hill  Elizabeth Ann
Mackman  Jacob

Looks like a mistake on the birth cert to me ...

Many thanks, could be a mistake on b/certificate. Do you have any information on children as I seem to remember an aunt having polio as a child.
