Is there any records of Watch Maker in Birmingham.
My ggg grandfather was a Watch Maker and Jeweller on the census from 1841 - 1871.
Thank you

Pettsy- my husband has a few books which lists clock and watchmakers. If I have a name I can take a look for you.

Thank you Nutty 1966,
Good idea with putting in his name, but no luck so far
Hi aghadowey
Thank you.
His name was Issac Turner.
And in 1861 his sons Frank Claude and George Thomas were Jeweller apprentices.
And by 1871 Jewellers.
If you find anything on the Turners that would be great.
Thank you

Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World, Brian Loomis, vol. 2:
Isaac Turner. Birmingham. 1842-1860.
also- William Turner. Birmingham. 1880.
Didn't find Frank Claude or George Thomas Turner.
Nothing found in volume 1.
If there's a clock museum in or near Birmingham they might have a record of the Turners. Also local directories should give addresses and how long they were in business.

Hi aghadowey
Thank you.
I will see if they have the book in my local library, to photocopy.
And look on my census to find aout if I have William Turner on it.
They have a museum in Coventy, is that the one?
Thank you

Not sure where clock museum near Birmingham would be but also check Birmingham museums. Sometime museums have information/exhibits on local industries, etc.
Book doesn't give any more information than what I posted but if you want a photocopy of the page send me a pm with your address and I'll send it to you.

Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World, vol. 2, Brian Loomes lists two:
T.J (or T.A.) Hendrick, London, 1844-51
Thomas Hendrick, London, 1857-63.
